Public transport on the island is available by bus. Rapid Penang features new air-conditioned busses operating on 41 routes. Taxis are easily available, most of them refuse to use meter but instead use fixed fares. Renting a car, a motorbike or even a mountain bike is affordable and gives you the freedom to explore the island and all its many attractions. Car rental starts from as little as RM 40 a day, motorbikes from RM 25 and can be arranged at several places around the city and also through most hotels and resorts. Taxis from the airport cost about RM 50 to George Town. Most of the hotels and resorts arrange taxis for their guests.
