If you are looking for fun, Pantai
Cenang (Cenang Beach) is the most popular of
the island’s beaches and most restaurants,
cafes, bars and mid-range and budget hotels are
located here. Towards the northern end of the beach
are a few boutique and five-star hotels for those
that want to be pampered but still want to be close
to the action. Pantai
Tengah (Tengah Beach) is just to the south of
Pantai Cenang and here are a number of larger hotels
and resorts.
Further north on the island, things get quieter
and you can take your pick from a range of tranquil
hotels and resorts, dotted along either side of
the majestic Mount Mat Cincang in the west
or right on the white sands of Tanjung Rhu beach
in the east.
Those that are coming to enjoy the island’s
duty-free status as well as business travellers
and conference groups usually head to Kuah,
Langkawi’s main town and shopping area.
Inland, a few resorts can be found nestled between
rice paddies, villages and forests, providing a
sheltered hideout within minutes of a variety of
beaches and attractions.
