Cherating Village, or Kampung Cherating Lama (Old Cherating) as it is locally known, is still filled with carefree backpackers and surfers, especially when the surfing conditions are best in November and December. The village exudes a distinct rural charm and its 1 km long main street is lined with cafes, craft shops and wooden chalets. Along the coastline towards the south, and in a few spots in the north you can find hotels and resorts offering a little more comfort, luxury and the perfect setting for a family holiday or a productive meeting. The famed Club Med is towards the north at Chendor Beach. Video gallery
