Language
Bahasa Malaysia is the official language but English is widely spoken and understood.

Telecommunications
There are good telephone communications throughout the island with phone booths operated by different companies which either accept coins or phone cards. International calls can be direct-dialled from private phones, some public phone booths using a phone card and Telekom offices. The access code for making international calls from Malaysia 00. Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory but is widely practised. RM2-RM5.

Water
Tap water is safe for drinking in Malaysia. Hotels usually provide bottled water for guests in their rooms.

Working week
Terengganu has its weekend on Thursday and Friday. The official start of the week is on Saturday.

Banks
Money can be changed at most hotels, banks and at the airport. Banks and moneychangers are located at Kuala Terengganu, with banks being open from 0930 am to 0330 pm. On Saturday, they are open from 0930 am to 1200 noon.

Currency
Malaysia currency is in Ringgit (RM) and sen. Most establishments accept major travellers' cheques and credit cards. The exchange rate for US dollars is fixed at RM3.80 = US$1. A resident/non-resident is permitted to carry into and out of Malaysia, ringgit notes not exceeding RM1,000. A resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia foreign currency including traveller's cheques not exceeding RM10,000. A non-resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia foreign currency including traveller's cheques not exceeding the amount brought in. Anti-drug law
Visitors to Malaysia are advised that the trafficking of drugs in the country is an offence punishable by the death penalty.

Malaysian electricity voltage is on a 240 volt 50-cycle system.

Health
The only vaccination requirements are yellow fever for those from infected areas. Cholera, smallpox and malaria have largely been eliminated.

Immigration
Citizens from the following countries are required to have a visa to visit
Malaysia : North Korea, Cuba, Vietnam and the People's Republic of China. Nationals other than those stated are allowed to enter Malaysia without a visa for a visit not exceeding one month. However, it is recommended that visa enquiries are made at the Malaysian embassy or Malaysian consulate closest to you, as regulations are subject to change.

 

Q1 How do I go to Kuala Dungun from Singapore via road ?

You can take a daily express bus (Transnasional) from Singapore to Kuala Terengganu (you have to tell the driver that you want to stop at Dungun) in the evening and you'll reach Dungun approx. at 0400am.

From there you can get a taxi to Kuala Dungun and arrive thereabout 10 minutes. If you're driving, the journey to reach Kuala Dungun will take about 6 to 8 hrs drive depends on how frequentl you stop for breaks. There are 2 routes to take for this journey. 1st route : Singapore - Johor Bahru- Kota Tinggi - Mersing - Kuantan - Kuala Dungun 2nd route : Singapore - Johor Bahru - Ayer Hitam (highway) - Tangkak - Segamat (exit) - Kuantan - Kuala Dungun

Q2 I want to go to Tenggol Island , do I need to go Kuala Terengganu?
No if you are driving from Johor Bahru or Kuantan BUT if you are taking the flight from Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru you have to go to Kuala Terengganu and from here you have to take any coach transfer (HIMDA Express) to Dungun (from Dungun bus station you have to take a taxi to Kuala Dungun).

Q4 Can you arrange the coach service from Singapore ?
Yes we can but only if you're in a group of 10persons or more. We can arrange coach transfer for less than 10 persons but it will not be cost effective meaning you have to pay more !
Q5 Where can I park at Kuala Dungun. Is it safe ?
There're a lot of car park operate there. It is safe to park here.
Q6 How do I go to Kuala Dungun from Singapore by coach service ?

Q7 I'll be travelling with a group of people, can I get a discount ?
Yes, you can. Typically we can give 5 % discount for a group of 10 persons (The discount varies from one location to the other).
Q8 Can you tell me the air operator from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur that travel to Kuala Dungun ?
From Singapore , you can take either Malaysia Airlines or Singapore Airlines to Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) or Subang and transit to Kuala Terengganu. All flights are available daily but you need to book in advance in order to secure your bookings. Malaysia Airlines flies to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur regularly. From Kuala Terengganu to Dungun town, it takes one hour by road. Van transfer can be arranged through the resort operator. At the Dungun jetty, a ferry will take you to Tenggol Island in about an hour. Fares : Adult RM95 return , children (4-12years old) RM50 return.

Q10 What is the best time to go for island holiday ?
The best time is between March - October and pls get advice regarding the weather condition before you go. Try to avoid school and public holiday.

The airport is located 20 minutes from the main town of Kuala Terengganu.
