Kambau resort is a small, family-run resort on the north-eastern side of the island. It is fronted by a long, beautiful stretch of beach with soft, light coloured sand. Tinggi island is visible across the deep blue waters of the South China Sea and behind the resort a pathway cuts through the jungle to the other side of the island.
A handful of wooden and brick chalets are scattered around under tall trees. Accommodation here is basic, with cold showers and fans only. Family units accommodate up to six persons while the wooden semi-detached chalets have three single beds and an attached bathroom.
Weekend packages are very affordable at RM 250 per person and include ferry transfers, meals and accommodation. A barbeque with friends and family is the perfect way to end a day here spent lazing on the beach or playing beach volleyball. Kambau Bay is popular with budget-conscious Malaysian families looking for a simple island getaway.
